The Women We Have ~24 years: Mummy

Growing up, there was something glamorous about being called a "daddy's girl", for a long time I used to think I was. And then, I separated from the light of my soul and I realised that it was my mom, all along.

I associate love with her, for she is the love of my life. She is everything that gives me the power to be myself, even during events of conflict with her.

She was my first teacher - used to bring books from fairs and get excited when I could differentiate dolphins from sharks. (She still does, when I differentiate dolphins from sharks ;) ) She used to dress me up like I was a toy and till date, calls me her 'darling doll'.

We had some rough patches when I was 5 and had a sibling take over some of my space but I believe she compensated for it when she taught me how to think maternally towards my baby brother. She still says to him, your sister is your second mom and somewhere that is who I have become.
